ABOUT DR. VANESSA CHAFOS

Dr. Chafos is the founder of the Center for Counseling and Mindful Living, LLC and is currently practicing as a Psychologist in NJ. She is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® administered by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). She received her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Felician University in 2012 and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Sport and Exercise in 2021 from Seton Hall University. In 2022, Dr. Chafos completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Princeton University’s Counseling and Psychological Services specializing in working with college students and athletes.

Dr. Chafos takes a mindful and personalized approach to working with individuals to assist in reaching one’s goals in a warm and supportive atmosphere. She tends to incorporate mindfulness and other performance techniques to assist one in the growth process and realization of strengths and goals. She believes in the importance of staying up to date with the most efficacious treatment modalities and is involved in research with the athlete population. She has presented regionally and nationally on topics related to mindfulness sports injury, and performance-relatedd variables, and has also taught as an adjunct professor a range of psychology undergraduate courses. Dr. Chafos has acquired other extensive experiences over the past several years with diverse populations that include working with individuals in outpatient, residential, intensive outpatient, inpatient, and school/university settings.
