Vanessa Chafos is the founder of the Center for Counseling and Mindful Living, LLC and is currently practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ. She received her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Felician University and is now in pursuit of her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology at Seton Hall University. Vanessa has acquired extensive experiences over the past years working with individuals in outpatient, residential, intensive outpatient, and inpatient settings. She is a trauma informed therapist and has treated many clients who have experienced stress, trauma, and PTSD. She also has training working with a variety of clients ranging from mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, women’s issues, addictions, relationship issues, ADHD, developmental issues, and grief. Her approach is highly personalized tailored to an individual’s needs in a warm and supportive atmosphere.
She uses evidence-based treatment that includes, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based-Treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other third wave cognitive and behavioral therapies. Vanessa brings a variety of techniques to assist one in the growth process, and realization of strengths and goals. She believes in the importance in staying up to date with the most efficacious treatment modalities. She has conducted research, published, and presented at conferences regionally, nationally, and internationally on the topics of mindfulness, health and well-being, the use of technology as a treatment intervention, and social justice issues across diverse populations.
